My Diary.
A Series of Unfortunate Events.
(None of which were on the damn Syllabus.)

Sophie Mansur-Gupte
👋 Hey there, I’m Soph!
(But most days I answer to “Mom,” “Babe,” "Mrs. M", or just “HELP!”)
I’m almost 30, a teacher by trade, a mom by miracle, a wife by choice (and sometimes by eye roll), and a full-time adult impersonator.
I own a home, a label maker, and way too many planners for someone who never quite follows them.
From the outside, it probably looks like I have it all together. But behind the scenes? I’m winging it like a last-minute lesson plan — with coffee in one hand and emotional support snacks in the other.
I started This Wasn’t on the Syllabus because, honestly, no one told me adulthood would be like this. The mental health dips, the marriage detours, the budgeting breakdowns, the parenting plot twists — none of it was on the syllabus I imagined as a kid. And yet, here I am. Surviving. Growing. Sometimes thriving. Always learning.
This blog is my digital teacher’s lounge: part therapy, part comedy, part “please tell me I’m not the only one.” Whether you’re a fellow mom, teacher, or just a beautiful mess trying to keep it together — welcome. You belong here.
